Built in 1867, the building was Heineken's first brewery. The building served as a brewery until 1988 after which, in 1991, the remaining part of the building was opened as the Heineken Reception and Information Centre. Ten years later, this name was changed to the Heineken Experience. Around 2010, the Heineken Experience was awarded the Thea Award in the ‘Brand Experience’ category.
