The Jewel was built in the 1920s as a vocational school for young craftsmen. Here, generations of goldsmiths, watchmakers and goldsmiths learned their trade. The name “The Jewel” is therefore a tribute to the craft finesse once passed on here.
Today, the building is a dynamic meeting place for art and music lovers. It hosts weekly concerts, club nights and other events ranging from jazz and electronic music to spoken word and theatre. There are wonderful acoustics and the atmospheric setting makes it a special experience.
Besides having a vibrant cultural program, The Jewel also houses a stylish café-restaurant. It has a large waterside terrace and an atmospheric indoor space. This makes it the perfect place to enjoy a good cup of coffee, a sumptuous lunch or a delicious dinner. The menu is full of international influences and fresh, local ingredients.
You can also perfectly combine a visit to The Jewel with other fun hotspots in Amsterdam. For example, you can relax by taking a walk in the Rembrandtpark.
